Festival of speed brings loud cheers in Geater Noida.
One of the biggest pop stars of the country performs his chartbusters at a Formula One-level racetrack while dozens of superbikes zip around on the track as thousands of fans cheer and scream. Sounds like an all-round entertainer, doesn’t it? This was just a glimpse of what was on offer at Festival of Speed, organised at the Buddh International Circuit in Greater Noida recently. The mega event saw some of the biggest racing competitions of India being held at the same time – ranging from the National Racing Championship and Asia Cup of Road Racing to the newly-launched X1 Racing League. From bikes to formula cars, fans were treated to breathtaking races in each format.
Adding to the thrill were gravity-defying stunts performed by professional international stunt drivers and motorcycle riders, and even tractors. It was a full house in the grand stand and the crowd cheered throughout the day. Devesh, a student from Greater Noida, who had come with his friends, said, “I have never seen anything like this before. The stunts were the best part because it was amazing to see the drivers’ control and skills.” One of the highlights of the day was a performance by Daler Mehndi, who got the crowd on their feet with some of his biggest hits like 'Tunak Tunak Tun', 'Kudiyan Shehar Diyan', and 'Saade Naal'. The performance was accompanied by a demo race featuring over a hundred superbikes, followed by a race featuring dozens of supercars.
True to its name, the day-long event had a lot in store for motorsport fans with some of the biggest names from India rubbing shoulders with the world’s best. Abhay Singh, a motorsport fan from Delhi, said, “I got to watch people like Gaurav Gill and Alex Yoong along with some of the best Indian racers across formats. It was a treat for fans like me.”Source By : Times of India
