Until ‘Chupke Se’, Daler Mehndi was always seen sharing the screen with Bollywood stars on the silver screen. The song ‘Kajra Re Nainawale’ from the movie ‘Chupke Se’ was Daler Mehndi’s first official playback song on the record. It was the first time Mehndi lent his voice to a composition of another composer.
Composed by Vishal Bhardwaj and written by Veteran Gulzar Saheb , the rhythm was done by Ranjeet Barrot. The track is of a rock-meets-trance engulfing Bollywood kind a genre and showcases Daler’s voice travel quality, its gradation from base to higher notes very effectively.Daler Mehndi’s soulful nuance on the expressions ‘Kajrare, Naino wale, Nain Tere Chambal De Lutere’ bestows the audience an insight into his exceptional knowledge of indian classical music. Mehndi is truly a singing maestro in his solo performance of ‘Kajra Re Nainawale’.
